In the second qualifying round of the Conference League, after the “Sabah” club won 2:0 against “Petrokub” in Moldova, they had all the chances to advance to the next stage. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
In the 22nd minute of the match, “Petrokub” player Maxim Potirnike lost the ball in the central zone. “Sabah” representative Joy-Lens Mikels took advantage of this situation effectively, going one-on-one with the goalkeeper and opening the scoring.
Shortly after, Anatoliy Nuriev passed the ball to Mikels near the penalty area. Mikels adjusted the ball with his right foot and sent a low shot from 17 meters into the near corner of the goal, making the score 2:0.
By the end of the half, “Petrokub” player Sergiu Pletike made a cross from the left wing. The home defender Stiv Solve made an unclear move and directed the ball into his own net, changing the score to 2:1.
After that, “Sabah” organized a positional attack. Pavol Shafranko received the ball from Nuriev and delivered it to Mikels.
Mikels entered the penalty area from the left wing, took a shot at the near corner, and the score became 3:1. Later, Mikels deceived another defender and made a pass beside the goalkeeper.
Shafranko directed the ball into the goal, bringing the score to 4:1 in the first half. In the second half, there were no dangerous situations to score.
Now “Sabah” will face either “Levski” or “Braga” in the next stage. The match took place at the “Bank Republic Arena” stadium.
