The Madrid club “Real” requested to change the date of the match against “Osasuna” in the first round of the Spanish championship. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The club wanted to allocate more time to prepare for the new season. The reason for this is that the Madrid team's vacation and pre-season training were delayed due to the Club World Cup.
According to AS publication, the Spanish royal football federation referee rejected “Real”'s request. The decision stated that the Madrid team has a sufficient number of registered players to hold the match on the scheduled date.
It was also noted that La Liga fully ensured a 21-day vacation period for the players. Thus, the match between “Real” and “Osasuna” will take place on August 19.
The club's head coach Xabi Alonso will have only 15 days of preparation time before the new season. The “Real” management wanted to pay sufficient attention to the players' preparation in this situation.
However, the federation's decision remained unchanged.
