Former football player Aleksandr Mostovoy expressed his opinion about the number of legionnaires in the “Krasnodar” team. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
It is known that “Krasnodar” became the champion of Russia for the first time in its history this year. According to Mostovoy, the club used to take pride in its homegrown players, but they could not elevate the team above fifth or sixth place.
Now there are 15 foreign players in the squad, and they became champions. He emphasized that it is not the player's passport that matters, but the level of play.
If a player is strong, he should play in the starting lineup regardless of his citizenship. Currently, Russian Premier League clubs can register 13 legionnaires for one season.
At the same time, up to 8 foreign players can participate on the field at the same time. Earlier, there were reports that restrictions on the number of legionnaires might be tightened starting from the next season.
According to the new regulations, the club can only register 10 legionnaires, and 5-7 of them can participate on the field. The Russian Ministry of Sports is considering plans to tighten these restrictions.
