The former sports director of the "Barcelona" football club, Ramon Planes, spoke about the club's interest in striker Darwin Nunez. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to Planes, the leadership of "Barcelona" planned to add Darwin Nunez to their squad. At that time, Nunez was playing for the Spanish club "Almeria" and had attracted attention as a young, promising player.
The club leaders considered buying him at a low price and leaving him on loan at "Almeria" for a certain period. This was intended to provide the player with regular practice and create conditions for his growth.
However, this plan did not materialize. The Portuguese club "Benfica" made an offer of 25 million euros for Darwin Nunez and added the player to their ranks in September 2020.
According to Ramon Planes, "Barcelona" could not compete in this transfer. Two years later, in the summer of 2022, "Benfica" sold Darwin Nunez to the English club "Liverpool" for 85 million euros.
However, the player has not been able to fully showcase himself in England. It is said that he may be transferred to another team in the near future.
