Gazzaev: The limit on legionnaires in the RPL is an incorrect decision

Famous coach Valery Gazzaev expressed his views on the limit of legionnaires in Russian football. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

He recalled that years ago, during the time when he led the CSKA team to win the UEFA Cup, there were no restrictions on foreign players in Russia. According to Gazzaev, 2005 was the most flourishing period for Russian football.

That year, CSKA played against Lisbon's Sporting team in the final and won 3:1. At that time, there were no legionnaire limits in place.

Currently, each club in the Russian Premier League can register 13 legionnaires for the season. At the same time, a maximum of 8 legionnaires are allowed on the field at one time.

As Gazzaev emphasized, healthy competition is always necessary in any sport, especially in football. This contributes to the improvement of the quality of teams and players.

Therefore, imposing strict limits on the number of legionnaires can negatively affect the development of football. In Gazzaev's opinion, if teams direct their strength correctly and remain competitive, football will become more attractive and of higher quality.

For this reason, ensuring healthy competition is important.
