Former player Maksim Demenko, who played for several local clubs during his career, shared his thoughts on Matvey Safonov, the goalkeeper of the "Paris Saint-Germain" team. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He expressed that he would like to see Matvey in the Italian or Spanish league, but emphasized the importance of him moving to a team where he can be the main goalkeeper. According to Demenko, a goalkeeper quickly becomes forgotten without regular playing practice.
Last season, Safonov played a total of 17 matches across all tournaments, conceding 13 goals. At the same time, he managed to keep his goal safe in 7 matches.
It was also revealed that the Paris club might give up on the Ukrainian player Ilya Zabarniy instead of Safonov. This indicates the possibility of changes in the team composition.
The most important thing for Matvey is to be on the field regularly and to improve his skills. Only then can he fully demonstrate his potential and remain a key player in his team.
According to Demenko, competition and regular playing practice are crucial factors for a young goalkeeper. Therefore, he may test himself in other leagues in the future.
