Aleksey Chistyakov, the goalkeeper of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Matvey Safonov's first coach, shared his thoughts on the player's future. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, if Donnarumma stays at PSG for at least another year, Safonov should move to another club on loan. This is considered the best option for Matvey, as it is detrimental for a goalkeeper to remain without playing practice.
Chistyakov emphasized that currently, it is difficult for Safonov to compete with Donnarumma, so it is necessary for him to gain playing time on loan to improve his skills. Last season, the 26-year-old Russian player participated in 17 matches across all competitions, conceded 13 goals, and kept his goal closed seven times.
The expert believes that for Safonov to showcase himself in the future, it is crucial to have regular playing practice. Therefore, a loan agreement is considered the most appropriate path for his development.
