Significant changes are planned to be introduced in the social insurance system in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the new decree signed by the President, starting from January 1, 2026, the procedure for assigning and paying state social insurance benefits will be improved. These changes aim to simplify the social protection system and create convenience for citizens.
Under the new procedure, maternity, childbirth, and temporary disability benefits will be assigned automatically, without the need to submit an application. This process will be carried out directly through the State Social Insurance Fund.
The state social insurance operates in two forms: compulsory insurance is financed from income tax allocated from the state budget, while voluntary insurance is organized by citizens voluntarily paying a monthly contribution equal to 5 percent of the minimum wage. From January 1, 2026, maternity and childbirth benefits, and from July 1, 2026, temporary disability benefits will be assigned automatically.
Additionally, starting from January 1, 2030, unemployment benefits will also be paid through this fund. These changes serve to strengthen citizens' social protection, reduce bureaucratic procedures, and ensure prompt payments.
These innovations are aimed at making the state social insurance system more efficient. Source: One.uz.
