A number of new measures have been adopted in Uzbekistan to develop the green economy and waste recycling sector. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In particular, until January 1, 2028, a zero customs duty rate will be applied to the import of technological equipment intended for the development of charging stations, spare parts, and service infrastructure for electric vehicles. This was reported by Podrobno.uz.
Additionally, similar incentives will be granted for the import of spare parts for silk processing and textile equipment, mulberry tree seeds and seedlings, as well as high-quality seeds for silkworms. According to the presidential decree, long-term measures have also been established.
Specifically, until January 1, 2031, special equipment, technological machinery, and raw materials not produced domestically, used in the activities of enterprises that utilize household, construction, and medical waste, as well as entities processing biodegradable polymer materials, will be exempt from customs duties. Furthermore, a preferential tax regime will be introduced for entities operating in the waste management sector.
From January 1, 2026, to January 1, 2031, the profit tax and social tax for the "Waste Landfill Management Directorate" and other relevant taxpayers will be set at only 1 percent. These tax benefits will apply only if the specified requirements are met.
Among the main requirements, income from the collection, removal, sorting, and recycling of waste must constitute at least 90 percent of total revenue. Additionally, the monthly salary paid to each employee must not be less than twice the minimum wage.
