59 Cars Collided Due to Fog in California

A major traffic accident occurred on Highway 99 in the state of California, USA, due to dense fog. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The incident was observed on the morning of January 31, around 08:15. According to local road patrol information, initially separate collisions occurred in both directions of the road.
These collisions caused a chain accident involving a total of 59 vehicles. The incident took place in Tulare County, 40 miles north of Bakersfield.
The fog was so thick that visibility was only 45–60 meters. To ensure road safety, the highway was closed for several hours and traffic resumed only after noon, around 14:30.
Officials stated that several people sustained minor to moderate injuries as a result of the accident. Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact causes of the accident, including what triggered the initial collisions.
Experts note that such large accidents frequently occur during the winter season. Fog, freezing, and rainy weather conditions significantly increase road hazards in the early morning hours.
Similar incidents have previously been observed in the state of Michigan. Road patrol authorities are reminding drivers once again about safety measures: reducing speed, maintaining distance from the vehicle ahead, and staying alert in low visibility conditions.
Driving in foggy weather can pose great danger if rushed. Therefore, drivers must prioritize caution.
