Olympic champion in figure skating Alexey Yagudin believes that there should be no foreign players in Russian football clubs at all. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, removing foreign players will enhance competition among Russian players for the main lineup and help their development. Yagudin emphasizes that although he is not a football expert, he supports the removal of foreign players.
He stated that local players should fight for a place in the main lineup, work on themselves, and not just earn money and walk around freely. It was also reported that the Russian Ministry of Sports is preparing amendments to impose restrictions on the number of foreign players.
According to the new regulations, a team can have ten foreign players on its roster, and only six of them can be on the field at the same time. Currently, a team can have thirteen legionnaires, with eight of them allowed to play simultaneously.
These changes are expected to increase opportunities for local players.
