The restrictions on the number of legionnaires in Russian football may be significantly tightened. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Currently, this issue is being discussed by the Russian Ministry of Sports and the Russian Football Union. One of the main proposals is that teams in the Russian Premier League can have a maximum of 10 legionnaires in their season application, and no more than 5 legionnaires can be on the field at the same time.
So far, this issue has only been discussed, and no decision has been made. In the current season, clubs in the Russian Premier League can register 13 foreign players, of which 8 are allowed to be on the field at the same time.
The new Russian championship will start on July 18. These changes are being considered with the aim of developing the country's football and creating more opportunities for local players.
