Famous former football player Vladimir Bystrov expressed his views on the restrictions placed on the number of legionnaires in Russian football. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
In his opinion, the limit on legionnaires should be tightened. According to Bystrov, it is appropriate to have six foreign players and five Russian players on the field at the same time.
He emphasized that this restriction should force clubs to pay more attention to their trained players. The former player also mentioned that while some clubs currently have the opportunity to buy any player, others are deprived of such opportunities.
Currently, clubs in the Russian Premier League can register 13 legionnaires for the season, of which eight can play on the field at the same time. Bystrov believes that further reducing these figures will positively impact the development of football and expand opportunities for local players.
Thus, preparing national personnel and giving them priority will be of great importance in the development of football.
