According to Nova24.uz, Uzbeks were paid billions of soums for excess electricity through solar panels.

Deputy Minister of Energy Bahtiyor Mamadkarimov stated that 10,000 citizens participating in the "Sunny Home" program sold 12.2 million kWh of excess electricity produced by solar panels to the state and received 12.2 billion soums in return.

In 2024, new power plants with a total capacity of 2,790 MW were commissioned in Uzbekistan. Among them:

1,000 MW — solar photovoltaic plants,
800 MW — wind power plants,
965.2 MW — thermal power plants,
22.7 MW — hydroelectric plants.

4.9 billion kWh of electricity was generated from solar and wind sources. This is equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 2 million households. As a result, 1.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas were saved, and 2 million tons of harmful gas emissions were prevented.

In 2024, a total of 81.5 billion kWh of electricity was produced in the country, of which 67.5 billion kWh was supplied to the population.

In 2025, the following is planned:
Launching solar and wind plants with a capacity of 4.5 GW,
Installing 785 MW of solar panels,
Building 225 MW of hydroelectric plants,
Implementing energy storage systems with a capacity of 1,800 MW.
