An important agreement has been reached regarding TikTok, one of the largest social networks in the United States. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The American division of ByteDance, the company that founded the app, has been separated under a new agreement, and its value is estimated at approximately 14 billion dollars. This was announced by White House Vice President J.D.
Vance. President Donald Trump signed an order in the Oval Office, setting a 120-day deadline to finalize and implement the terms of the agreement.
According to experts, this decision is of great importance for TikTok’s future in the United States. Under the agreement, Oracle Corporation, the Silver Lake investment fund, and the Abu Dhabi sovereign fund MGX will acquire 45 percent of TikTok’s shares in the US.
ByteDance will retain a 19.9 percent stake, while the remaining 35 percent of shares will be distributed among American investors. According to information released by the White House, the new agreement will transfer control of TikTok’s algorithms and content moderation to the joint venture management.
Oracle will play a key role in managing the app’s data security and recommendation system. This is aimed at ensuring the platform’s safety for US users and protecting personal data.
Prominent investors Rupert Murdoch and Michael Dell also participated in the agreement. TikTok currently has over 170 million active users per month in the US, making it one of the country’s most popular platforms.
Moreover, the agreement was reached against the backdrop of the international political situation. President Trump, in communication with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, positively assessed the agreement and emphasized Beijing’s approval.
However, some politicians have expressed concerns that full control over the algorithm is not guaranteed under the terms of the deal. Experts believe this agreement opens a new chapter for TikTok.
It will not only help strengthen its position in the market but also influence the development of economic relations between the US and China.
