Contaminated water caused illness in Indore, resulting in 10 deaths

In the city of Indore, India, a widespread outbreak of waterborne illness has occurred due to contaminated drinking water. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
As a result of this situation, at least 10 people have died, and more than a thousand citizens have sought medical assistance. Notably, Indore was previously recognized as India’s “cleanest city.”
According to official information, the illness was identified in the Bagiratpura district at the end of December. Local residents began visiting hospitals with symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea.
Although the city administration has not yet announced exact figures regarding the number of deaths, investigations are ongoing. The investigations revealed cracks in the drinking water pipelines.
Due to these cracks, the water became contaminated and harmful bacteria appeared in it. It was also found that sanitation rules were not followed in the area where the pipelines are located.
Currently, hundreds of patients continue to receive treatment in city hospitals, with some patients in serious condition. Authorities recommend that the population use only clean and safe water.
At the same time, necessary measures are being taken to supply the area with additional clean water and to resolve the problem.
