The government of Uzbekistan plans to reduce 2,141 civil servants by the end of October. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The positions of these employees will be replaced by artificial intelligence systems. This decision is being implemented to modernize public administration and increase efficiency.
Within the framework of reforms, modern digital technologies will be introduced, market mechanisms will be expanded, and some state functions will be transferred to the private sector. The main goal is to improve the efficiency of executive authorities and reduce administrative expenses.
The reductions will be especially carried out in the State Tax Committee, Water Management, Agriculture, and Ministry of Justice. Additionally, some positions may be eliminated in other agencies as well.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations and the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan are also obliged to assist with employment. These changes are considered an important stage in the process of digitalizing public administration.
