On December 26, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, announced a new phase in the fight against corruption in his address to the parliament and the nation. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The head of state described corruption as the greatest obstacle to the country's development and emphasized an uncompromising fight against it. According to the President, corruption violates the principles of the rule of law and justice, undermines trust in society, and seriously harms reforms.
For this reason, 2026 was declared an "extraordinary year" for the fight against corruption in the country. It was noted that if this scourge is not eliminated, achieving economic and social development goals will be difficult, and the trust of the international community may weaken.
Within the framework of the new system, responsible positions for internal control against corruption will be introduced in all government agencies. The activities of the Accounts Chamber will be organized more systematically, and all agencies will be strictly inspected.
The head of state particularly stressed that the truth will be openly spoken even if it displeases anyone. From now on, every leader will be personally responsible for the proper use of budget funds and for identifying corrupt officials.
All control activities will be reported directly to the President. Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of strengthening personal responsibility for every cent of state funds.
According to him, the mindset of "I have a position, no one can touch me" will no longer have a place in Uzbekistan. Everyone must be equal before the law.
All organizations such as the internal affairs, prosecution, tax, customs, finance, banking sector, major state companies, and local authorities will be under control. Persons who obstruct the activities of the Compliance Service will be considered partners in corruption and held accountable.
The Compliance Service of the Presidential Administration has been tasked with fully launching the new system from January 1, 2026. Now, cases of corruption or abuse will be reported directly to the President.
According to information, this service has been led by Erkin Yo‘ldoshev since July 2025. This system is aimed at increasing transparency and accountability in public administration and is expected to be a turning point in the fight against corruption.
