Famous coach Valery Gazzaev once again commented on the issue of potential tightening of restrictions on the number of legionnaires in the Russian Premier League. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He reminded that twenty years ago there were no restrictions. According to Gazzaev, when CSKA Moscow won the UEFA Cup in 2005, there were also no restrictions on legionnaires.
In his opinion, clubs should not attract low-level or average foreign players. Gazzaev cited his experience, stating that young players can also show good results.
He also emphasized that clubs in the Russian Premier League should only invite high-level foreign players to their teams. Otherwise, there is no point in bringing in players who do not stand out even in their own country's championship.
Currently, each club in the Russian Premier League can include 13 legionnaires in their season application. At the same time, each team is allowed to have 8 legionnaire players on the field at any one time.
Gazzaev stressed the importance of focusing on selecting quality players rather than tightening restrictions in this regard.
