The cold anticyclone coming from the West brings coolness to our country
According to climatologists' analysis, from May 25 to June 2, the air temperature in many regions of our country will be below normal. The cold anticyclone moving in from the West will remain "trapped" in our region for a while due to the warm air stagnating in the Tibetan mountains. This situation will provide us with a week of coolness, allowing agricultural crops, flora, and fauna to "recover" after the heat, says climatologist Erkin Abdulahatov.

— How did the spring heatwave in the middle of last week affect agricultural products? Do you think the high heat waves expected in the middle of this week will be similar to last week's?

— No, we are currently facing a heatwave typical for May. Its intensity will not be as discouragingly hot as last week's. The coolness at night and in the morning will clearly show us the difference between last week's heat and the current one. In fact, last week, the arrival of thermal depression in Uzbekistan presented heat records for this day at almost all stations of "O‘zgidromet". As we predicted earlier, the current thermal depression process brought +45 degrees of heat to the Kyzylkum deserts. At the "Buzau Bay" observation point in Navoi, the maximum air temperature reached +44.5 degrees during the anomalous heat period, while at the "Tomdi" observation point, it nearly reached +44 degrees.

At the same time, on May 16, the capital's base meteorological station "Tashkent-Observatory" recorded a temperature of +39.5 degrees during the hot day. This is the hottest temperature recorded for this day in 170 years and the second highest value observed in May since observations began in Tashkent in 1868. In late May 1902, the thermometer columns in the capital reached +39.9 degrees, and that value remains the highest for May to this day. Last week's heat slightly affected agricultural productivity. It caused stress to plant physiology. The dry winds observed after the heat "absorbed" the moisture from the plants' bodies.

— You say a cold anticyclone is coming from the Volga region; what impact does it have on our agriculture, and what kind of weather can we expect in June?

— From the last days of April to the last days of May, our agricultural fields faced very high temperatures. Not only high temperatures but also an extraordinary lack of precipitation was observed in the region during this month. Now, in the last days of May and at the beginning of June, the population of the republic will feel a significant cool weather environment in their bodies. The beginning of June will be cool, but it will still ensure that the temperature for the entire month is slightly above normal.

Unfortunately, the situation regarding precipitation in June is not positive either. This is strongly felt in the mountains. In the coming month, the population in the northern regions of the republic will experience a significantly cooler June compared to previous years. This does not apply to the valley and southern regions. There is a high probability of the next anomalous heat waves entering the region in the second half of the month.
