Russia supports a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine. This was stated by President Vladimir Putin.
However, the question is how to use this period, added the Russian president. At the same time, he expressed a desire to guarantee that Ukraine would not conduct mobilization, hold exercises, or acquire weapons during the ceasefire regime.
“In the Kursk region, everything is under the full fire control of the Russian Federation. The exit of Ukrainian military forces from the encirclement near Kursk is becoming impossible,” said Vladimir Putin at a joint press conference following a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
The Russian president described the issues of control and verification as still unclear in the event of a ceasefire. In his opinion, the issues of detecting violations of the ceasefire regime, which spans 2000 km in Ukraine, are very complex.
“The idea of a ceasefire is correct, but there are issues that need to be discussed,” said Vladimir Putin.
He also assured that he might call Trump to discuss the idea of peace.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov stated in an interview with the "Izvestiya" newspaper that Vladimir Putin would meet in a closed format with the special representative of the US president, Steve Vitkoff.
