US President Donald Trump announced on March 13 that he had spoken on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He reported this on his Truth Social social media platform.
Trump described the conversation with the Russian president as "good and productive." According to him, there are opportunities to stop the conflict in Ukraine.
“Yesterday we had very good and productive negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. There are very good opportunities for this terrible and bloody war to end. Currently, thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are completely surrounded by Russian troops and are in a very bad and vulnerable situation.
I asked President Putin to save their lives. This will be a horrific massacre not seen since World War II. God save them all!” wrote the US president on his Truth Social social media page.
