The disability determination process will be fully digitized
The disability determination process will be fully digitized
The disability determination process in the Republic of Uzbekistan is being fully digitized. This was reported by Zamin.uz. A new system is being introduced in our country to create convenience for the population and increase transparency. According to the Government Resolution No. 587, the process of determining disability will now be carried out electronically. This, in turn, reduces the influence of human factors and simplifies service delivery. From now on, applications to determine the disability group and duration will be accepted not only through district central polyclinics but also through “Inson” centers, local social workers, the my.gov.uz electronic portal, and family doctors. During the pilot period starting from April 1, 2025, a total of 12,500 applications were received in Tashkent city and Navoi region. Of these, 52.4% were submitted through “Inson” centers, 47.5% by family doctors, and 0.1% via the electronic portal. Under the new procedure, the treatment duration is individually determined based on the type of illness and the patient’s health condition. For example, 30 days for 1% of cases, 60 days for 8%, 90 days for 10%, and 120 days for 33% have been set. Additionally, 48% of patients do not require a treatment period. Furthermore, the list of diseases for which disability is determined externally has been expanded from 48 to 60. The new electronic system introduces uniform standards for disability determination. Through this, information about the disability group, duration, the patient’s need for assistance from others, and rehabilitation needs is automatically generated in the “Unified National Social Protection” information system. Initially, the system will be launched in Tashkent city and Navoi region, and from October 1, 2025, it will be gradually expanded to all regions. This innovation will be a great convenience for citizens and medical workers, making the process faster, more transparent, and more convenient. People will no longer spend time on excessive paperwork and waiting in queues (source: zamin.uz).

Uzbekistani pilgrims stranded in difficult situation in Saudi Arabia
Reports have emerged that Uzbek pilgrims who went to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah have found themselves in a difficult situation. This was reported by Zamin.uz. A citizen of our country, D.I., contacted the Consulate General, informing that the pilgrims would not be able to return to Uzbekistan at the planned time and would be forced to seek assistance. According to the information, the airline tickets provided for the pilgrims indicated that they were supposed to fly from Medina to Uzbekistan on September 15, 2025. However, due to the travel agency not informing them in advance about problems with the tickets, the pilgrims were left in an uncertain situation. Representatives of the agency only gave vague answers such as "they may leave in the coming days." This especially increased anxiety among the elderly and women. The Consulate General investigated the situation and immediately held negotiations with the travel agency. They demanded measures to ensure the safety of the pilgrims and to arrange their prompt return to Uzbekistan. Agency representatives stated that due to technical and organizational problems with the airlines, the tickets were not purchased on time. Following this, the Consulate General instructed the company to temporarily accommodate the pilgrims in a hotel and to purchase new tickets. As a result, all pilgrims were placed at the Samaa Al-Misk hotel in the city of Mecca. Through further negotiations, new tickets were purchased for them. On September 17, 2025, the pilgrims returned to Uzbekistan on a Fly Khiva airline flight from Medina to Tashkent. The Consulate General monitored the entire process, ensuring that our citizens safely reached their homeland (source: zamin.uz).

Illegal cigarettes are freely sold in the markets
Illegal cigarettes are freely sold in the markets
Although the fight against tobacco product smuggling in Uzbekistan has significantly intensified in recent months, illegal cigarettes are still freely sold in markets and on the streets. This was reported by Zamin.uz. This situation is causing great concern among the public. Law enforcement agencies have announced that they have seized several large consignments of smuggled goods in recent weeks. For example, in the Fergana Valley, the share of illegal products has reached 22 percent, causing significant damage to the state budget. Over the past seven months, this damage amounted to approximately 286 billion soums, of which more than 115 billion soums correspond specifically to the Fergana Valley. Officials emphasize that among the illegal products, the most widespread is the "Milano" brand produced in the Jebel Ali zone of the United Arab Emirates. These cigarettes lack medical warnings, which is contrary to Uzbekistan's technical regulations. During a raid conducted in Namangan region, more than 11,000 packs, including cigarettes of the "Milano" and "Esse Change" brands as well as hundreds of electronic tobacco devices, were confiscated. Their total value exceeds 215 million soums. Additionally, thousands of packs were seized in the Samarkand and Tashkent regions. According to reports from Tashkent State University of Economics, the share of illegal tobacco products in the capital increased from 7 percent to 11.8 percent within one month. The most dangerous aspect is that there is a significant discrepancy between the indicated substance amounts and the actual composition in the smuggled cigarettes. For example, the "Milano London" pack indicates 1 milligram of tar and 0.1 milligrams of nicotine, while laboratory tests revealed these figures to be 3.1 milligrams and 0.2 milligrams respectively. For the "Oris Fusion Mint" brand, these figures differed by a factor of two. Experts believe that such a situation seriously harms not only human health but also the entire economy. Therefore, it is necessary not only to conduct raids and confiscations but also to completely close smuggling routes, cleanse markets of illegal products, and establish a coordinated systematic fight among all authorized agencies. Islamic Banking Law is being prepared in Uzbekistan
The introduction of the Islamic banking system in Uzbekistan's financial market is being raised as an important topic. This was reported by Zamin.uz. On September 16, this issue was discussed in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, and a special draft law was presented to the deputies. According to Abrorkhoja Turdaliyev, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank, it is planned to introduce a separate license to start Islamic banking activities in the country. Banks will be able to independently start operating as Islamic banks or open special departments providing Islamic services within existing banks. Through this project, the population and business entities will have the opportunity to receive financial services in accordance with Sharia rules. According to experts, this initiative will increase competition among banks, attract new investments, and help improve the quality of financial services. The draft law envisages amendments to the Tax and Civil Codes as well as eight other laws. Additionally, new concepts such as "Islamic bank," "Islamic finance standards," and "investment deposit" will be introduced into the legislation. Turdaliyev emphasized that the availability of alternative financial services through Islamic banks and microfinance organizations will expand, and new tools to support business will be launched. For reference, since 2022, efforts have begun to establish Islamic windows in more than ten banks. The head of state also noted that the introduction of Islamic finance could attract about five billion additional dollars of resources to the country and improve competition in the financial market. Furthermore, in 2024, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Behzod Hamroyev announced that a draft law on Islamic finance has been prepared and is planned to be submitted to parliament by the end of the year (Source: zamin.uz).

Maryam Tillyayeva broke off relations with her mother
Maryam Tillyayeva broke off relations with her mother
The granddaughter of Uzbekistan's First President Islam Karimov and blogger Maryam Tillyayeva openly announced that her relationship with her mother Lola Karimova-Tillyayeva has been severed. This was reported by Zamin.uz. She emphasized that despite five years having passed, there has been no communication between them. Maryam stated this while answering subscribers' questions on her Instagram page on September 15. According to the blogger, she is the only person among her relatives who has completely cut ties with her mother. Maryam finds her mother's behavior strange. Although she always tries to appear good to others, sometimes she shows herself as a victimized woman. However, when she comes to her homeland, not entering her own home and acting like a stranger puts Maryam in an incomprehensible situation. Initially, this situation was hard for her, but over time she was forced to get used to it. She even accepted it with the thought "my mother is such a person." At the same time, she feels very sorry for her brother and sister. Maryam says that family conflicts have been intensifying over the years and it is unknown when they will reconcile. In her opinion, her mother appears to be someone who tries hard to gain public attention. Additionally, Maryam added that she feels her mother is engaging in unhealthy competition against her. She stated that such a situation does not make sense because her mother gave birth to her. "I am half of my mother; how can I be a rival?" said the blogger. Speaking about her family, she said she does not disclose some events out of respect for her grandmother Tatyana Karimova and other relatives. When one subscriber said that Maryam does not envy her family, she agreed. According to her, a high position or wealth does not equal family peace and healthy relationships. Maryam Tillyayeva announced that she has decided to continue her life in a different direction. She said, "Now I will live enjoying my life, doing what I want. I am not responsible for the actions of my close ones. I am not Mother Teresa; I do not have to save everyone. I will only live my own life and build my family," (source: zamin.uz).
