
On Thursday, October 2, 2024, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the return of 185 Russian military personnel from territories controlled by Ukraine. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
As a result of this exchange, Russia handed over 185 military prisoners to Ukraine. Additionally, an exchange involving civilians also took place.
According to Shamsail Saraliyev, a deputy of the Russian State Duma, the Russian side returned 20 civilians and received the same number of citizens in exchange. He stated that "the exchange has been completed."
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the returned military personnel and civilians are located in the Republic of Belarus, where they are receiving psychological and medical assistance. All returned Russians undergo medical examinations and will be taken to Russia for rehabilitation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also confirmed the news about the prisoner exchange with Russia. These exchanges are of significant importance in strengthening humanitarian relations between the two countries, respecting human rights and moral principles.
