The German government has delivered the next comprehensive military aid package to Ukraine. This assistance includes modern missiles for air defense systems, artillery ammunition, high-tech drones, engineering tools, armored vehicles, and other essential equipment.
This time, the military aid primarily consists of missiles intended for the modern IRIS-T SLM surface-to-air missile systems. Additionally, ammunition for Leopard 2 modern battle tanks, 27,000 artillery shells of 155 mm caliber, and 1,000 artillery ammunition of 122 mm caliber have also been delivered.
Furthermore, Germany has supplied 70 Vector-type drones capable of conducting reconnaissance operations at a high level, 150 armed HF-1 combat drones, and 20 modern robotic platforms.
Among the armored vehicles, six Bergepanzer 2 evacuation vehicles along with spare parts and four WISENT 1 specialized engineering vehicles designed for effective mine clearance have been provided.
Moreover, two engineering plugs necessary for clearing underground mines, 41 modern radar stations for surface observation, laser rangefinders, infrared binoculars, special vehicles for border guards, and underwater operation scooters have also been delivered.
Additionally, modern grenade launchers of the RGW 90 type against tanks, as well as high-quality rifles of the G3 and MK 556 types, have been supplied for the needs of the Ukrainian forces.
The German government had announced plans to significantly expand military assistance to Ukraine this year. Therefore, new air defense systems, modern tanks, and high-powered howitzers are expected to be delivered in the near future.
It is worth noting that in March, Germany began sending three new Gepard anti-aircraft systems and additional missile batches for the IRIS-T systems to Ukraine. According to a law signed by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, military aid funds amounting to 3 billion euros have been allocated for Ukraine.
Additionally, the new German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has also expressed strong support for delivering modern Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. However, he emphasized that this decision would only be implemented in coordination with European allies.
Thus, this extensive military assistance provided by Germany will significantly strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities and play a crucial role in further enhancing the country's defense potential.
