Valery Gazzaev, the former head coach of Moscow's CSKA team, shared his thoughts about the team's goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Akinfeev has been active in the ranks of the "army men" for over 22 years. According to Gazzaev, there was an era of Yashin in football history, and even an international award named after Lev Yashin is given.
Then came the era of Dasayev, and now the era of Akinfeev has begun. He also noted that there are five or six goalkeepers like Akinfeev in the world.
Igor Akinfeev has played in 798 official matches for CSKA. In these matches, he has conceded 717 goals.
Currently, 39-year-old Akinfeev's existing contract with the Moscow club is set to last until the end of the 2025/2026 season. At the same time, he remains an important part of the team and serves as a role model for young players with his experience.
